Maudella Grace “Cissi” Jones is a lifelong native of eastern Kentucky, where she
has worked to improve health outcomes of underserved populations. She
attended Hazard Community College, Georgetown College, University of Kentucky
and Frontier Nursing University. She holds Master’s Degrees in Education and
Nursing and is Board Certified as a Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (FNP-
BC and PMHNP-BC). In her positions as a family practitioner, she often found
herself working with the addiction population and felt inadequate to offer the
best care available by addressing mental and physical health issues. This
prompted her to pursue additional certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
She has also experienced the effects of addiction and recovery in her own family.
Witnessing what she considered cultural bias toward those in recovery and the
difficulty of rebuilding life after recovery caused her to focus the majority of her
practice to addiction medicine. Cissi also sits on the Board of Directors of the
Appalachian Artisan Center and the Freedom House (striving to open a homeless
shelter in Perry County).
Calvin Chadwick “Chad” Clemons has lived his entire life in eastern Kentucky. He
holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is a Certified Alcohol
and Drug Counselor. He is also trained in Targeted Case Management. After a 16-
year bout with his own addiction, he found recovery in 2011 through a 12-step
program. He currently works in multiple ways to give back to those who are new
to recovery, as well as those who are striving to rebuild and maintain their own
lives. Chad serves as a member of the Letcher County Drug Court team, Director
of the KRCC Rebound Center in downtown Hazard as well as Business Director at
Key Recovery Solutions. He is partnered with a group planning to open a new
treatment center and serves on the Board of Directors of Freedom House, a group
striving to open a homeless shelter in Perry County.
